The Fennie Family Tradition
My grandfather was a well-known pit master in Northern Georgia. He is responsible for developing the unique and delicious hickory-smoked flavor in Mr. Fennie’s Barbecue and Dipping Sauce.
During the depression era folks would walk for miles to my grandfather's smokehouse for his down-home smoked meats. Grandfather passed his recipes and technical expertise to my father, who in turn mentored me to continue the legacy.
I am honored to share with you my experience and expertise established by my family for three generations.
Mr. Fennie¹s Philosophy
A true barbecue guru, or pit master, practices his trade with passion year round. Real barbecue is cooked with seasoned wood at a slow pace to produce that mouth-watering aroma. When finished, great barbecue is crunchy brown on the outside, yet lean and juicy on the inside. Some of the most important factors to achieve the perfect barbecue are to maintain perfect temperature control while cooking, never more than 265 degrees, keep barbecue equipment well maintained, and clean it after each use. These steps ensure a great barbecue every time.
